We hope you all had a wonderful Memorial Day weekend with family and friends. We had an action packed one for sure. We took Elle on her first trip on the interstate out to Grandma and Grandpa Blass' house! It was seriously picture perfect relaxation on the back deck listening to the sounds of the waterfall, surrounded by green! Definitely a refresher! Mom made homemade chicken salad and we sipped a lil Red Diamond. Plus as Elle is really confused by how my sister sounds just like me and has brown curlyish hair like me, I even got to chill for longer! She of course can't feed her yet, but that is okay! We really enjoyed kicking back with the family. Elle just loved Great Grandma Joan, as you can see by her smiles below. She also loved seeing all of the Ulrich crew and meeting Daniel and John for the first time. I somehow didn't get a photo of them with Elle. So next time...Dad has really got the home whipped up into shape and it is really looking more like theirs. We also got to see Kara who is looking fabulous at 21 weeks along. Elle is pumped to meet her new lil girl cousin in a couple months.
After visiting with my family for a bit, we headed up to Wade's parents on Sunday afternoon. The weather held off, which was lovely. We enjoyed a nice grill out with the Splinter crew. I even got to sneak my first "long" run in....ha when did under 4 miles become a "long" run. It felt lovely though and I can't wait till Elle gets a lil bigger so we can run together. However, I am enjoying her petite cuteness at this very moment, as she is curled up asleep on my lap.
We really enjoyed seeing family and relaxing a bit. Although I must say I was pretty tuckered out on Monday morning. However we had a fun day planned for Memorial Day as well. Jonathan is back from Sudan, so Elle was so pumped to meet Uncle Jon-o for some brunch. Ann Marie was in town as well, so she brought Michael along to Flo. Uncle Jason of course got some fun Elle time, and Caleb joined us from the UP as well! We loved brunch and catching up on the wild and crazy adventures of Jonathan. He is looking great, snake moccasins and all...
Afterwards, Wade and I decided to hit up Old Navy for a few summer clothes for Ms. Elle, followed by a walk out to the Observatory. The sun was feeling great, a bit warm, but the breeze of the Lake was refreshing. It took a bit longer than we thought to walk out there. But I will post some cute photos of the results of our efforts...I was so thankful for the free trolley that brought us back to Millenium Park and spared my feet any more blisters. We then met AnnMarie and Michael to catch up on life and some afternoon Jamba Juice. We enjoyed hearing the fun details of life and were hoping to make a night of it, however Wade and I were so exhausted from our walk we decided it was time to call it a night. Wade was so tired he slept for 12 hrs! Elle tried to sleep that long too, only she had to wake up 4 times in there for snacks! Oh well...we are justing resting on this freezing Tuesday!
