Daddy's Girls and Brown Hats

Growing up, I remember having a favorite childhood photo of myself.  I was about 2 in the photo, wearing a lil pink jacket and a brown floppy hat.  I am standing in the middle of our farm land, looking out with my back to the camera.  (I am attempting to locate a copy of the photo, which I will post when located)  I loved spending time on the "hill" with my dad.  We didn't have a ton of land, but we raised black angus and had a garden as well.  I remember climbing in the big old chevy white truck, in my brown hat of course, and heading out with my dad to work on the hill. My dad will always tell me that he remembers me wearing that lil brown hat wherever I went with him.  He loved me in the lil brown hat and it holds much sentimental value between us, the "daddy's girl" that I am.

Ironically enough, mom and I bought this cute lil brown stocking cap for Elle at GROW the other day.  I am obsessed with putting Elle in stocking caps, of course, she is just to cute for words.  Ever since we have brought the brown hat home, it has been a hit.  Elle wears it wherever she goes and somehow dad has already started growing fond of this brown hat.  He seems to naturally want to put it on Elle all the time.  On Sunday when Elle was rather fussy, and mom was rather tired, Wade took lil Elle for a walk to give mom some time to herself and get a few things done.  I couldn't help but tear up a bit as he put her in her brown hat and headed out the door.  Another daddy's girl in the making...(and if you are thinking this doesn't sound like me writing, the answer to your question is yes pregnancy, childbirth, and parenthood have made me more sentimental and emotional)

The story made me tear up as well! Sounds like Ellery is just as lucky to have her Dad as you were to have yours...Hooray for Daddy's Girls!
